Visual Art Gifts

A self taught artist Lorna brings to her art the profound and infinite beauty around us, to share with the viewer, the world through her eyes. She captures the very essence and mood of a landscape and yet there remains space for personal interpretation by the audience. She now expands her genre to include wildlife and other interests.
Her paintings are held in private collections in the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Influences: In 2008 she followed a dream of many years to visit Alaska and Canada where she traveled, painted and held workshops. Lorna looks forward to presenting many new works in the near future. She spent time traveling with friend and photographer Hugh Rose (http://www.hughrosephotography.com) on journeys based on photography, ecology and wild life. Learning finer points of photography has enabled her to capture better images for future artworks, while the combination of the three elements have helped her immensely in her interpretation of the subject matter she gathers.

Traveling in Europe in 1996 and 1998 Lorna was privileged to view the works of some of the finest Masters in history, and along with influences of artists around the world through artists magazines, galleries and internet contact all have been of great help to her.

Exhibitions and Awards:

2004 Painting published in a book called “100 Ways to Paint Seascapes, Rivers and Lakes” published by International Artist Magazine, Lorna was one of only 100 artists worldwide chosen to have one of their works presented in this book.

2007 Solo Exhibition Upstairs Gallery, Lopdell House, Titirangi.

2009 Merit Award for the painting “Dawn In The Gentle Land” at ArtEllerslie

2009 Painting “Dawn In The Gentle Land” received 3rd place in Peoples Choice at ArtEllerslie.

General exhibitions Lorna regularly participates in numerous exhibitions throughout New Zealand and also receives many opportunities to exhibit at invitation only shows.

Lorna is a member of Bartizans, Titirangi Community Arts Council, Auckland East Arts and Waitakere Central Community Arts Council. From time to time she conducts workshops and also writes poetry much of which is inspired by her paintings or visa versa. If such a painting is sold then the poem is given as a gift to the purchaser.
